The Democratic Chronicles are on-line posts of articles and commentary I consider interesting and pertinent to our quality of life. The Chronicles are primarily political in nature as politics affects every aspect of our existence from the jobs we hold,our health care and the education of our children,to the environment we love,but occasionally I stray.
I want to say right up front that I make no bones about my liberal world view. However,I do not hug trees and,in fact,do not hug anyone very often. also post intelligent and well written articles that run counter to the progressive ethos,much to the dismay of some of my readers. I believe that to be well informed and capable of constructing and supporting a position or viewpoint one has to be aware of counter arguments.
As a news junkie I read several major newspapers a day and numerous magazines. Additionally,I review a number of major blogs such as the Daily Kos and the Huffington Post and have readers who forward articles and commentary from many other sources. Thus the Democratic Chronicles is an idiosyncratic and personal distillation from the immense flood of information that inundates us. You may not read it all,cherry picking is just fine with me,and you may disagree with my choices.
Five years ago when I started the Democratic-Chronicles I asked a friend who is an accomplished writer,what he thought of the idea. He said he liked it but that to get anyone to read it and/or recommend it,I would have to establish my credentials up front.
Well I have no credentials. You see I was never the Secretary of State who negotiated the opening of China or the General who beat the Shiite out of Saddam Hussein. I also never ran a billion dollar conglomerate or developed tofu based printer paper into a multinational cartel. In fact the one business I did start went belly-up. Either the reader sees the perceived value in what I have posted,and are occasionally informed and amused by it,or they don’t. As a management consultant for many years I would like to think that I made a small difference to some of my clients and was not a total parasite on society. Thus nothing in my background is going to make you want to read this post if truth and humor are not inherent,in that order.
Let me know your thoughts and comments,laudatory or not. If you keep it civil I can take just about anything you care to say.
