The El Dorado County Democratic Essay Contest,sponsored by the United Democrats of Placerville club,provides an opportunity for public high school junior and seniors to submit an essay on a relative topic. The contest is in its seventh year,and is dedicated to its founder,Fred Winn.
The essay question this year is “Does the United States have a responsibility to promote and/or assure democracy throughout the world?” Explain and support your position.
All essays must be received no later than January 17,2012. Winners will be awarded their prizes between March 15,2012 and April 15,2012.
1st Place: $1,000 cash
2nd Place: $500 cash
3rd Place: $250 cash
